Tournaments

Lake Tyler ended up being a head scratcher.  Low water levels, hot temps and fish that were selective at best.  But fish we did, sweat we did, sunburn we did and for some, catch fish they did.  But before we get to the details, some insight into the group that showed up to meet the challenge.  As with all trips there is always a story or two that must be shared if for nothing else but to embarrass those involved.  Our adventure started Friday and for Rori a lesson learned, well maybe.  Seems Rori dumped his back seat partner for another, a divorce of sorts with his team member but without coordination.  Once discovered various coordinated gotcha plots ensued that had Rori squirming on the proverbial stake.  Now there is not enough writing space here for all the details, but I’m sure that with a little coxing Tad will be happy to recite the conversation, Rori’s emotional swings and eventually the plethora of name calling initiate by Rori in true Air Force military style.  There’s even one in text form to the club president which really hurt, being innocent and all.  Needless to say, Rori was easier to hook than a bass.  With seven guys in an Airbnb, there was no let up and all were fair game.  However, Rori, by way of losing his vehicle keys between Saturday night and Sunday morning, continued to provide much entertainment.  Again, with very damaging accusations and abusive language, we all pitched in to help even though much of the support was in the way of verbal instructions and questioning while having our morning cup of Joe.  And mind you the only one having a beer was Connor the night before.  Eventually, by pure luck, the keys were located, setting the stage for Sunday’s outing.  In typical tournament fashion Cliff and Shane put in motion the right combo and founds some willing Ditch Pickles thereby taking first place as a team.  Tad bailed out citing job demands (pretty sure it was the pressure of the tournament that got to him) thus opening the opportunity for Neil and Matt to backdoor into second.  Leaving Rori and Connor in fourth, thanks to Connor’s team contribution.  AOY and ROY are up for grabs with two remaining tournament.  Good luck to all….Now it’s on to Richland Chambers, yeah.  Tight Lines…….
